Okay Dolls, we are down to our third of the "Big Four Fashion Weeks." Fashion editors, bloggers and fashionistas, hot off the trail of London fashion week, caught the next train headed to Milan, Italy. Milan is the home of Gucci, Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana and Prada, just to name a few. This year some of my favorite designers SLAYED the runway with gorgeous and wearable art. I cannot wait to add some of these pieces to my wardrobe. This means that I'll be working overtime again, and again, and again, in order to add some of these items to "my" collection. But, as Drake says, "YOLO!" I think, for me, it's more like, "Started from the bottom, now I'm broke!" It's fashion, so that means it's worth it....Right?
While you ponder that question, the first house I want to talk about is Gucci. This year Gucci has been the fashion house that everyone is obsessed with, and I mean EVERYONE. Alessandro Michele has been the creative director since January 2015 and has taken this brand to a whole new level. I'm happy to admit I've become obsessed with Gucci too! This year I've purchased a fabulous belt, a purse for my birthday and acquired my Mother's vintage Gucci bag. In the coming weeks, I hope to add sneakers and loafers to my haul. Out of all the shows I was looking forward to seeing, Gucci was one of the top two. Below are looks that I loved!
The next fashion house that I love is Moschino. I had heard of Moschino but didn't truly look into the brand until Jeremy Scott became the creative director in late 2013. I knew who Jeremy Scott was because I am a huge fan of Korean pop music. One of his muses is CL, a popular rapper from the K-pop group 2NE1. Under Jeremy Scott, Moschino integrated fun and pop culture into their fashion. In 2015, Moschino released a Barbie collection that set the fashion world on fire. I was lucky enough to purchase pieces from this collection. In recent years Moschino has released collections based on the Looney Tunes, Super Mario Bros. and the Powepuff Girls. I grew up playing with Barbies and Nintendo and I still watch the Powerpuff Girls! Some of my favorite pieces in my closet are Moschino - from my pink flamingo shoes to my Barbie iPhone case and matching belt. I was super excited to see what Jeremy Scott would do next. He didn't disappoint. This season, they created life sized "paper doll fantasy realness!" He even added white paper tabs. All the collection is cute and quirky. Here are just a few of my favorite hits!
This year, Prada's collection showcased simple and elegant silhouettes, mixing prints and feather details with a 1970's vibe. Who doesn't love hot pants with feather detail? No one! Prada is one of the few designers I look to for classic pieces with a unique twist. I've chosen some of my favorite looks from this collection below.
I've listed some additional collections and pieces that I loved. Of all the collections, I definitely see myself wearing Tod's all leather and snake combinations. The collection was full of wardrobe staples made from unique fabrics. It was chic and edgy. Who doesn't need a python bralette and matching shorts or a leather t-shirt? I am huge jacket person and Fendi designed some fantastic ones made with different sleeves, prints and textures. Alberta Ferretti was a mix of feminine and masculine. She mixed colorful frills and chunky leather belts and boots. The multi layered skirts, I loved.
Unfortunately, I don't own anything from these designers yet. However, like I said in my London fashion week post, I still have that gut feeling that a winning lottery ticket is coming my way...
Omgee! It's all so beautiful. I hope you all liked the looks I loved from Milan Fashion Week.....
Stay tuned for Paris next!
