London Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week is over.  It went by so fast! I felt that I could barely catch my breath as I took in all the collections. Next stop, London.

England has always held a special place in my heart.  One of my degrees is in History, I studied Modern European History.  I wrote theses on Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II.  England is a place I have always wanted to visit due to its rich history.  In fact, growing up, I had wished that I was British.  All my favorite things were, and still are, British.  I listen to the Spice Girls, Girls Aloud and McFly.  I watched The Only Way is Essex (don't judge me) and have seen every episode of Absolutely Fabulous.  As a child, I faked an English accent.  When my mother and I went out in public, I asked her not to talk so people wouldn't realize that I was really a southern girl.  Having the chance to combine fashion and history is this "fashion and history" enthusiast's dream!

I want to take the opportunity to display all the fashion that I love in this fall's London Fashion Week.  When I first hear "London Fashion," Burberry jumps to my mind.  I purchased my first Burberry piece earlier this year and I love it!  I'm hoping to add a purse, scarf and trench coat soon. This year Burberry showcased their Ready-To-Wear Fall 2016 Collection.  Below are some of the  looks I love....

TopShop showed their collection. I've known about TopShop for years but, until recently, it wasn't available in the United States unless you lived in major cities like LA or New York.  A few years ago, Phillip Green, the owner, expanded TopShop and opened numerous stores in America. TopShop is a brand that has great, trendy, classic, fashion forward pieces that sell at an affordable price. I purchased my first TopShop piece online - a skirt I wore to my 24th birthday party.  He teamed with Nordstrom, a world renowned department store, to showcase his fashions. Besides two Nordstroms in the state, Georgia now has a TopShop and a TopMan (some men love to be fashionable) in Lenox Mall in Atlanta.

I'll be honest, the first time I heard of Peter Pilotto was when they collaborated with Target a couple of years ago.  I purchased a beautiful outfit and, since then, I've loved their mix of prints and colors.  For Spring 2017, they showcased a lot of looks with gingham which is one of my favorite prints. They combined graphic prints with pretty feminine accents.

The next designers also showed collections that I loved, but, I am sad to say that I don't own anything from them - YET.... I have a feeling that I am going to win the lottery soon. Then I'll go and buy everything they make!  House of Holland, Simone Rocha, Mulberry and Charlotte Olympia's designs grab my eye.  Below are some of my favorite pieces from their collections.
