Tiana

Happy Mardi Gras!

Since it’s Black History Month & Mardi Gras, I decided it would be a great idea for my next Disneybound Princess to be Tiana! When I tell you guys I was so excited when this movie came out, I made all my college roommates go with me to the theater. My mom even got me a Princess Tiana Barbie doll for Christmas that year. I was so happy because not only was she the first black Disney Princess, but she was from New Orleans like me. There were so many references in that movie that I got, being from Louisiana. Although I have now spend majority of my life in Georgia, I was raised by Louisiana folk. My mom is from Shreveport and my dad is from a small town called Eunice. My oldest brother still lives in New Orleans, and I am fortunate to go back there often. We still have a lot of family that reside in Louisiana. If you have never been to New Orleans, I suggest you go! Not only is it a exciting historical city, but the food….the food is amazing!

How I came up with this look?

One key element that I wanted to bring to this Disneybound look was the Magnolia flower. The Magnolia is Louisiana’s state flower and I remember as a kid my grandmother having a two huge magnolia trees in her yard. I made this brooch myself because I really wanted it to be big and stand out. Tiana’s main dress is shaped like a flower with different shades of green. I found this sage green double breasted jacket on Missguided and a champagne tulle skirt & blouse from Amazon. My purse is also from Amazon. To add a bit of glamour to my overall outfit, I wore my strappy Valentino Rockstud heels that I love so much.

I have linked my entire outfit below!
