The Barbie Movie

Hi Peaches!

I know I can’t be the only one excited about The Barbie Movie coming out next week!

Like most little girls, I grew up playing Barbies. I had a whole lot of them, from Princess Barbies, Clueless Barbies, Spice Girls Barbies to Bob Mackie Collector Barbies….let’s just say I was a huge fan. And, the cool part is, I still have all my Barbies in my parents attic and they are in pretty good condition. I love that Barbie has so much nostalgia for not only my childhood but also my Mother’s. Just was born in the 50’s and grew up playing with Barbie dolls just like me.

I’ll be honest, when the Barbie movie was first announced, I was like, “What the heck is this going to be?” I immediately assumed it was going to be some cheesy movie that critics would hate, until I saw that Greta Gerwig was directoring it. Then I thought maybe it would be okay. As a fashion lover, when the first trailer dropped I was excited when I saw all the outfits. One of my dreams in life is to recreate (in my size) some of the Fashion Avenue outfits that Barbie had as well as her holiday dresses. So I began the hunt to find pieces that Margot Robbie was wearing in the movie.

FASHION

I am wearing a gingham dress and hat set from a shop called My Violet. I had never heard of this company before and randomly came across them online, and thank goodness I did! This outfit is almost a dead ringer to the swim piece worn by Margot Robbie in the movie. I found a replica of the seashell necklace and earrings also worn from Etsy. From the hat to the necklace to the dress, I felt like a pink Charleston Barbie in front of my pink Charleston mansion. Unfortunately this outfit is sold out, but I have seen them restocking it before. Below I have linked My Violet and the Etsy shop.
